John R. Proffitt, Funeral Director & Embalmer Since 1988John R. Proffitt is a native of Glasgow, Kentucky, and was a former owner of a funeral home and monument company in Mt. Washington, Kentucky. He was also a former managing partner for Lusk-McFarland in Paris, Kentucky, a former Carriage Services firm. John started in the funeral industry in 1988. His father, two uncles, and several cousins have been associated with the funeral industry since 1952. John joined Carriage Services in September 2005 and Barnett, Demrow, and Fox Funeral Homes in June 2008. He is currently the managing partner for Barnet, Demrow & Fox Funeral Homes. He is single with two children, Matthew and Katie. In his spare time, John enjoys riding his Harley Davidson VRod, Karaoke, and fishing. He is a member of the Lions Club International, 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Oleika Shrine Temple. John is a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington.

Curtis J. Hannah, Funeral Director Since June 2008Curtis grew up in Casey County. He started his apprenticeship to become a funeral director in June 2005 and finished in June 2008, when he became a Licensed Funeral Director. Curtis started at the funeral home in February of 2004. Curtis is married to Meredith and has two children, Hensley & Hollis from Ethiopia. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his 13 nieces and nephews. Curtis is active in Stanford Rotary, Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, Big Brother Big Sister of the Bluegrass, Lincoln County's Winterfest Toys for Kids, and Stanford Main Street Program. He attends Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Bill Demrow, Funeral Director & Embalmer Since 1973Bill Demrow has lived in Stanford/Lincoln County for his entire life. He started his career in 1965, working with Bill Fox at the age of 14. He became licensed in 1974, purchased Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home in 1978, and later purchased Fox Funeral Home then he became Managing Partner for Barnett, Demrow & Fox Funeral Homes. Bill currently is the Lincoln County Judge/Executive for Lincoln County. Bill’s family includes his wife, Debbie; one daughter, Jenny; one son, Curt, who is the manager of Preston-Pruitt Funeral home in Danville, and three grandchildren. He is a Corvette and Harley Davidson enthusiast. Bill enjoys UK basketball and doing yard work. He is Past President of Kentucky Coroners Association (3 times), 2007 Lincoln County Citizen of the Year presented by Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, member of Waynesburg Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Fort Logan Hospital Foundation. Bill attends Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Dan Barnett, Funeral Director and EmbalmerDan Barnett was born and raised in Waynesburg, but has lived in Stanford the last 27 years. Dan has been in the funeral business since 1975, where he was a former owner. In 2003, he became and ambassador for the Barnett, Demrow, and Fox Funeral Homes. His family includes his wife, Jane Noe Barnett, and two children; Gentry & Cassie Barnett. In his spare time, Dan enjoys fishing, wildlife farming, watching Nascar, and selling Real Estate. Dan is currently a Broker and Auctioneer for Lincoln Realty & Irvin Group Auction. He attends Stanford Presbyterian Church.

Shane Young, Funeral Director & Embalmer Since 1992Shane Young grew up in the Highland community of Lincoln County. He has been in the funeral business since 1988, having worked at all four Carriage locations during that time. Since October 2006, he has resided in Lancaster and works as Manager of Ramsey Funeral Home. Shane’s family includes his wife, Sherry and children; Zak, Ashton, and Alexis. In his spare time, he enjoys landscaping, hunting, staying outdoors, and loves to keep himself busy. Shane is currently on the Garrard County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, President of the Lancaster Rotary, member of the Lancaster Lodge #104 F&AM, and a member of the Professional & Advisory Committee for Heritage Hospice.

Curt Demrow, Funeral Director & Embalmer Since 1998Curt Demrow grew-up in the funeral business and is a 2nd generation funeral director. He is a graduate of Mid-America College of Funeral Service and holds his funeral director and embalmer's licenses. He has been with Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home since September 2006. He and his wife, Jaime, have two daughters, Molly and Gracie. He enjoys golfing, UK Basketball, working in his yard, and spending time with his family. Curt is a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge in Danville, Oleika Shrine Temple, Chamber of Commerce Ambassador’s Group, and the Danville Rotary Club.

Melinda McCowan, Funeral Director & Embalmer Since September 2008Melinda McCowan is originally from Danville. She joined Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in November 2007. She is a 2002 graduate of Boyle County High School. Her family includes her mother, Lori Statom, and her husband Anthony McCowan. She enjoys camping and hunting. Melinda is a member of the Business and Professional Women organization. She attends Indian Hills Christian Church in Danville. In 2006, she graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. Then, in 2007, she graduated from John A. Gupton College in Nashville, Tennessee with an Associate’s Degree in Funeral Services.

John David Friend, Funeral DirectorJohn David Friend was born in Garrard County, moved away when his father was minister and moved back in 1994. He began at Ramsey Funeral Home in May 2004. He is marreid to Mary Elizabeth Benton Friend. John David and Mary reside in Stanford. His family includes his mother and father, Johnny & Joyce Friend; sister, Perri Ann; and his beloved Yorkie, Rollie. In his spare time, he enjoys running, playing golf, watching UK sports, and spending time with friends and family. In May 2005, he graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business/Marketing Education. He is currently working on his master's in Administration. John David is a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Stanford.

Tom Stocker, Funeral DirectorTom Stocker was born and raised in Danville and considers himself a lifelong resident to the community. Tom has worked for the funeral home business 20 years, spending 15 years with Preston-Pruitt. He has two daughters, Kelly and Katie; and one granddaughter, Laci. Tom enjoys golfing and camping in his spare time. He is a member of Masonic Lodge-Franklin #28 (Danville), Kiwanis Club, a Salvation Army Bell ringer, and on the Board of Directors for Bluegrass Steam & Gas Engine Association. Tom attends Calvary Baptist Church in Danville.

Clarence 'C.R.' R. Barnett, Ambassador 1952-August 29, 2008Clarence Raymond Barnett, better known as C.R., lived in Lincoln County all of his life. He began his career in the funeral business in 1952. CR was a 1951 graduate of Kentucky School of Embalming in Louisville. He gained his Funeral Director’s License January 6, 1953. He also served 12 years as Coroner for Lincoln County, 1961-1973. In 1970, he built Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home. His family included his wife, Selma; and children, Clara Ray Haught, Sue Ann Hall, who is a Licensed Funeral Director; and Dan Barnett, who is also a Licensed Funeral Director. CR was a WWII Army Veteran, where he was a Tank Mechanic. He was a member of Waynesburg Masonic Lodge #328 for over 60 years, and was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Clarence attended Double Springs Baptist Church. Clarence departed this life on August 29, 2008. He is greatly missed by all those that he loved and that loved him.

Selma Barnett, AmbassadorSelma Barnett has lived in Lincoln County all of her life, living in the Parlor Grove Community in Waynesburg. She has worked in the funeral business for over 20 years. Her family includes her husband, Clarence Barnett; first husband was the late Rev. Fred Conatser, Judy McGuffey, and Sherman Conatser. In her spare time, Selma enjoys quilting and participating in church activities. She is a member of the Red Hat Society of Waynesburg. Selma attends Double Springs Baptist Church, where she is also a member of the Budget Comittee.

Verna Robinson, AmbassadorVerna Robinson has lived in both Lincoln and Casey Counties throughout her life. She has worked in the funeral business for three years. Her family includes her husband, George Robinson and three daughters; Teresa Adams, Lisa Messamore, and Tammy Goodpastor. In her spare time, Verna enjoys baking and reading. Verna is very active in the church she attends, Green River Pentecostal.

Renee' Knies, AmbassadorRenee Knies was raised in Findlay, Ohio, but has lived in the Danville/Stanford area over the past 30 years. She started working in the funeral business in November 2005. Her family includes her husband, Walter and son, Brett Schoebel. She considers her job as radio personality for WPBK-102.9 FM to be her favorite hobby. Renee is well-known in the region for being the host of the General Store Monday-Saturday 9 AM at the radio station. She is a volunteer for Hospice Heritage, LLC.

Bill Walls, AmbassadorBill Walls was raised in McKinney, but has been a resident of Stanford the last 44 years. He has been in the funeral business for about one year. Bill’s family includes his wife, Barbara McWhorter Walls; two children, Greg (Valerie) Walls and Gina (Roger) Cooper both of Stanford; and five grandchildren, Haley, Taylor and Abi Walls and Andrew and Matthew Cooper all of Stanford. In his spare time, Bill enjoys playing golf. He attends Green River Pentecostal Church.

Dan Grigson, AmbassadorDan Grigson was born and raised in Bracken County. He served six years as UK Agent in Powell County and worked at Wells Funeral Home during that time. Dan moved to Lincoln County in 1980. He has served the past 28 years as the Lincoln County UK Agriculture Agent. Dan has worked at Barnett, Demrow & Fox Funeral Homes the past five years. Dan’s family includes his wife, Linda Grigson, who is Director for Senior Citizens in Lincoln County; daughter, Jennifer Grigson Stamper, Teacher at Stanford Elemetary; and a son David Grigson, who is a senior at Campbellsville University. In his spare time, Dan is a horse show announcer, enjoys playing golf, and doing lawn and garden work. Dan is very active in the community, serving 28 years as Director of the Fair Board, Secretary for Lincoln County Cattleman’s Association, and Past Director of Chamber of Commerce. He attends Stanford Baptist Church, where he is Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, past Chairman of the Deacons, and a member of the Renovation Committee.

Deanna Floyd, AmbassadorDeanna Floyd is a long-time resident of the Kings Mountain community in Lincoln County. She began the funeral business in January 2008. She worked in the Lincoln County School System for the last 17 years. Her family includes her husband, James Floyd; and children, Marla Cook, Melinda Jones, Megan Lynns. In her spare time, Deanna enjoys working with Tennessee Walker Show Horses, quilting, reading, and drawing. She attends Floyd Switch Baptist Church.

Ed Ensslin, Family CounselorEd Ensslin grew up in Stanford. However, he has lived in Danville the last 29 years. Ed joined the funeral business in 2006. His family includes his wife, Pat Ensslin and daughter, Kimberly Ensslin. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and watching UK Football. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge #28 (Danivlle) and Dave Ramsey ELC. Ed attends Indian Hills Christian Church in Danville.
